As a patrolman with the Chicago Police Dept. according to our current contract (which expires this summer) we make between Step #1 $43,104.00 and Step #10 $78,006.00.
No wonder we all work side jobs. This is a serious struggle for us to survive in one of the most expensive cities in the country to live in. Add in Taxes, Mortgage Interest, Food, Gas, utilities and all the other assorted other expenses and we have serious issues!
NOT OUR BELOVED F.O.P. OFFICERS THOUGH. BELOW ARE APPROXIMATIONS OF THERE SALARIES. THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE DOING MUCH FOR US, AND I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE IN MY DISTRICT IN I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG!!! DO THEY DESERVE THIS TYPE OF COMPENSATION???

President Mark Donahue: $182,000.00 plus a FOP car. Mark makes more than Mayor Daley!
Bill Dougherty $134,00.00
Frank Dimaria $132,00.00
Greg Bella $132,00.00
Tim Fallon $134,000.00
John Capparelli $130,000.00
Sid Davis $132,000.00
TOTAL $1.108,000.00 APPROX
AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR WHAT?
ADD IN TO EACH OF THESE OFFICERS THE SUMMER FOP FURLO, THE ABILITY TO SELL BACK THERE BFD/P-DAYS AND THERE COLLECTING A UNIFORM AND DUTY AVAILABILITY ALLOWANCE AND WE SEE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS!
ADD IN $400.00 A MONTH FOR ATTENDING BOARD MEETING THEY ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AND THE ABILITY TO TAKE A DAY OFF AT LEISURE AND WE SEE OUTRIGHT DISRESPECT FOR WORKING POLICE OFFICERS!!!

I think you should mention that their "department salary" is actually paid by the rank and file. I've run into many newly minted P.O.s that don't realize WE reimburse the city for their CPD salary as well as paying their FOP salary. Also, what about their expense accounts for "FOP-related business?" Good luck finding that on their published reports.
Don't forget Donahue, Fallon, DiMaria, and the rest get $400.00 amonth stipend for working full time what a crock of shit bandits every last one of them

Thats why I stopped being the police. Im only there to collect a check. I have found a new venture and put all my efforts into that so when my 20 hit...well Im really gunna make them suffer then.

I also agree that these FOP reps need to go. I admit that I had previously voted for them and over all I like them as people, but they are completely useless when it comes to representing us.
Most officers do not realize just how bad they are for the simple reason that you really only deal with them when you either step on your dick or someone does it for you.
However being one of the few people that have had the honor of IAD coming after me and later being found innocent of a very serious allegation. I have realized that our FOP truely could care less about us.
Whenever I needed any direction or would have a question for Greg Bella his only response would be a very stern "Hey what ever IAD tells you is what it is." Gee thanks for the help!!!
